On August 23, 2005, a Boeing 737-200 approaching Pucallpa, Peru on a domestic flight from Lima crashed onto a jungle-covered, dirt roadway approximately 2 miles from the runway at 3:06 p.m. The pilot did not report any mechanical failures, but radioed prior to the crash that he could not land because of strong winds and torrential rain. 40 people were killed.
